The Nigerian Institute of Journalism is making a significant progress on the construction of its media resource center.
The correspondent who visited the institution noted that the building is ninety percent completed and may be ready for commissioning in September as promised by Sir Kensington Adebutu popularly known as Baba Ijebu.
Baba Ijebu had made the promise, via his representative Kola Oyefeso, during the sod-turning ceremony of the building in April, 2024.
Speaking further on the research center, the head of departments of the institution, Ms. Maureen Popoola, expressed her happiness with the progress of the project.
Ms. Popoola said: “As you can see, they started the framing of the building two weeks ago. The building’s structural framework, including floors, walls, and installation of the roof structure and covering has been done. They have also completed the exterior wall systems, including insulation and plastering.”
The HOD also expressed gratitude to the donor of the media resource center for his efforts and zeal in ensuring that students get the best of learning equipment and a comfortable learning environment while studying in the institution.
She said: “Many will promise such but later develop cold feet. The building would be delivered at the stipulated time.”
One of the engineers, who was at the site and prefers to be silent on his identity, said that what is left of the building to be completed is the “final touch.”
“What remain is the fixtures, fittings, painting, installation of light fixtures, and procurement and installation of learning equipments before the handing over,” the engineer stated.
The Kessington Adebutu Media Resource Centre upon completion will provide the students access to digital equipment that supports learning and research.
