The release of examination timetable by the management of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ) on Friday has resulted in mixed reactions amongst students of the school.

The development has seen the students express anxiety, fear and optimism, with many raising concerns over the examination schedule as the papers come consecutively for most part of the week.

Reacting to the release, National Diploma (ND) 1 student, Olajiga Blessing said: “I feel great about the upcoming examination, but the only thing that is bothering me is the broadcast that’s Mac 117.”

Another ND1 student, Olaoye Victor disclosed that he is under pressure considering the fact that it will be his first examination in the monotechnic.

His words: “Yes oooooo, very big tension. Especially because it is my very first time of writing exam in the institution.”

Higher National Diploma (HND) 1 student, Chilaka Amaka Precious stated that she feels excited about the forthcoming examination.

Amaka also said she doesn’t feel tensed because she is getting prepared for it.

According to HND 1 print student, Emmanuel Ashemiriogwa, the initial postponement of the examination has given him enough time to study.

Ashemiriogwa added: “And I can sufficiently say I’m ready for the forthcoming examination exercise. But as with other exams, there is sure a tension and pressure to do well.”

Final year student, Odu Ebere Mercy also reacted to the fast approaching examination, stating that she feels tensed, but getting ready nonetheless.

“I am mostly excited because I will be left with just one semester by the grace of God,” Mercy revealed.

Similarly, ND 2 student, Oluwatofunmi Adedokun mentioned that she is not feeling well as a result of stress.

However, Oluwatofunmi is hoping for a possible change in the timetable to ease the tension, thereby making things better.

The first semester examination for the 2023/2024 academic session will start on Thursday, March 7.
