The management of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ) has notified students of the requirements that will enable them to sit for the forthcoming examination.
The requirements for all students of the school, both freshers and existing students (full-time and part-timers) were disclosed in a notice issued by the institution’s Students’ Affairs Officer (SAO), Mrs. Esther Eke on Friday.
According to the notice, carry-over and extra semester students were advised to pay for their resit courses and register them on their respective portals to gain access to the exam hall.
“Submit the following for physical verification of the resit courses at the Student Affairs Office, print out of payment for the resit course(s) and print out of portal registration for the resit courses which should be registered with the present courses being taken on the course registration form.
“Present written clearance from the lecturer handling the resit courses that assignment/necessary assessments have been duly satisfied.”
The school warned that failure to comply with the regulations implies that ‘examination pass’ will not be endorsed and resit (carryover) course(s) will not be graded.
Similarly, the management enjoined the new intakes to submit their student’s file documents; receipts of school fees paid to date, a copy of the admission letter and course registration form (to be in triplicate) – the original form and 2 photocopies.
Other documents to be submitted include an acceptance form and clearance form, which can be obtained from ‘downloads’ on the portal and the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) fee receipt.
The old/existing students (National Diploma II, Higher National Diploma II and Post Graduate III), both full-time and part-timers were equally admonished to submit their documents which comprise “printout of the course registration form in triplicate (the original and 2 photocopies of it), a copy of school fees receipt and a copy of SRC receipt.”
While part-time students were charged to submit their documents at the bookshop on Saturday, the management noted that students without the institution’s identity card and examination pass would not be allowed into the examination hall.
The first-semester examination for the 2023/2024 academic session will commence on Thursday, March 7.
