He disclosed that it occurred to him that his time at the institution is gradually coming to an end, hence the need to write the book titled ‘NIJ’s Inside Story…from my lenses, the Beaut, the Bend’ when he has access to the ‘right history’.

“When you read it, you are going to learn about journalism, you are going to learn from people who are ahead of you, and contemporary journalism of old, how it was before, how it is now and what we are projecting it to be in the future,” the communication expert stated revealing why he wrote the book.

According to the reviewer, Dr. Khadijat Adedeji-Olona – a lecturer at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) and an alumnus of the foremost journalism school in Nigeria, she described the book as a complete account of NIJ’s evolution over the years.

Dr. Khadijat also said it offers a pioneering lecturers’ perspectives of the events that have shaped the school’s trajectory over the past two decades.

The book is structured into nineteen chapters with each revolving around various aspects of the author’s encounter with the monotechnic. The introductory chapter delves into the institution and its purpose.

Subsequent chapters; from two to eight recount the trajectory of NIJ, detailing its history, milestones, distinctive features, accomplishments, and the hurdles it has had to endure both prior to and following the National Board for Technical Education’s (NBTE) accreditation.

In the same vein, chapter nine and ten outline the procedures, policy intricacies, and reactions surrounding the appointments of Provosts after the retirement of the first Provost, while chapter eleven highlights some of the significant achievements, partnerships, and professional advancements attained by the school.

Other chapters pointed out some notable names in the media industry within and outside Nigeria, who were at some point students of the institution.

In his remarks, Provost of the institution, Mr. Gbenga Adefaye lauded Dr. Omojuyigbe for his painstaking research in bringing the book to fruition.

Mr. Adefaye described Dr. Omojuyigbe’s writing style as impactful, adding that it comes along with reliable references from the newsrooms and classrooms.

The seasoned author has now written nine (9) books, including ‘Speech Making and English Pronunciation’.
