Empowerment-centric group, Vibes Community, has announced a leadership transition, appointing Oluwaseyi Adebayo as the new president to drive its mission across higher institutions in Nigeria.

Vibes Community is a non-governmental organisation focused on providing undergraduates with mentorship, coaching, purpose discovery, and financial literacy through outreaches and community support.

The initiative was founded in 2021 by Oluwatosin Reallion Samuels and piloted as an on-campus club at the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ), Ogba, Lagos. In the last three years, the youth-centric group has been consecutively led by two teams of executives.

Announcing the transition on Sunday, October 27, Vibes’ immediate past president, Tosin Awelewa, said, “In today’s world where many people want to meet great individuals and learn new things from them, Vibes community provides that kind of opportunity since we stand on three pillars: Impact, mentorship and empowerment.”

Awelewa encouraged the new set of executives to liaise with other societies operating within the monotechnic, such as the Nigerian Institute of Journalism Christian Fellowship (NIJCF) and Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN), in order to fully perform.

According to him, the newly appointed president will work closely with the secretary and welfare manager of the community to drive career-oriented programs and skill-building initiatives among NIJ students and beyond.

Reacting to the appointment, Adebayo said, “I’m excited about this journey. The school management can play a crucial role by encouraging student membership and actively collaborating with us during organised programs. This support will go a long way.”

Recall that the NGO in 2023 organised a Blood Donation Initiative in Lagos, collaborating with Famall and Learning Quest to provide free dental consultation, sanitary pads and discounted treatments.

According to the new Vibes boss, such an event is one out of the many initiatives that is to come from the fresh tenure.
