The Chairman of Brila Media Group, Dr Larry Izamoje, will be the guest speaker at the 31st Professional Forum of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ), Lagos, on Wednesday, June 4, 2025.
The theme of the programme is “Standing Out in a Saturated Market.”
The event will commence at 1 pm at the Kessington Adebutu Media Resource Centre in the school premises.
Students are looking forward to learning from Dr Izamoje’s experience as a sports journalist and broadcast media owner.
In an interview with NIJInsight, HND 2 Full-Time student Oreoluwa Olatiboye said she hopes to learn from the media guru how to be outstanding in her profession, considering that mass communication entails a lot.
Another student, Ibukunoluwa Akinsanya, noted the impact of the previous Professional Forum and hopes the lecture by Dr Izamoje will also broaden her understanding of the media profession.
A graduate of Sociology from the University of Lagos, Izamoje is the Founder of Sports Radio Brila FM, Africa’s first sports radio station, with operational centres in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt and Onitsha.
In 1985, Izamoje worked as a freelance reporter at the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN).
From 1986 to 1990, he was a staff of Concord Press, serving as a sports reporter, promotions executive, and deputy sports editor.
He later joined the now-defunct Mail newspaper as a sports editor in late 1990 and worked briefly at DBN-TV Lagos before setting up Brila Sports, an independent production and sports consultancy company.
He has bagged numerous local and international awards for sports reporting and humanitarian contributions.
Izamoje is a fellow of four top professional bodies, including the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON), the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), the National Institute of Sports, Nigeria (NIS), and the Nigerian Chartered Institute of Administrators and Researchers (CFIAR).
He is a member of the Institute of Directors (IOD), Nigerian and International Sportswriters Associations (SWAN and AIPS), Independent Broadcasters Association of Nigeria (IBAN) and the Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria (BON), amongst others.
