The University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan has often been criticized on blogs and social media platforms for issues like power outages and delays, but my personal experience as a patient told a different story.

I was admitted to UCH with severe pneumonia, and what I encountered was professional care, efficiency, and a well-maintained facility.

When my symptoms—high fever, persistent cough, and difficulty breathing—became severe, I was referred to UCH. Upon arrival, the emergency team promptly attended to me, checking my vital signs and assessing my condition. The medical team, led by Mrs. Simbiat Dada, was professional and reassuring, explaining every step of my treatment.

To confirm the pneumonia diagnosis, I underwent several tests, including chest X-rays, blood tests, and sputum analysis. At one point, tuberculosis was also detected, which helped the doctors adjust my treatment plan. I was placed on a six-month course of antibiotics, received oxygen therapy, and had regular check-ups every two months to monitor my progress.

Throughout my stay, I was impressed by the dedication of the UCH staff. The nurses were attentive and knowledgeable, always ready to answer my questions. The hospital was clean and comfortable, and I appreciated the available amenities, such as Wi-Fi, television, and a cafeteria with nutritious meals.

By the time I completed my medication on February 16, I had made a full recovery. The medical team provided clear instructions on post-treatment care, follow-up tests, and lifestyle adjustments. I left the hospital feeling grateful for the exceptional care I received.

My experience at UCH was overwhelmingly positive. The hospital’s commitment to quality healthcare, the expertise of its staff, and the cleanliness of its facilities made a significant difference in my recovery.

I highly recommend UCH to anyone in need of medical attention in Ibadan—it is a place where professional and compassionate healthcare is truly delivered.
