Shaping the Future of Journalism

Addressing the matriculating students, the Provost of NIJ, Mr. Gbenga Adefaye, underscored the institution’s commitment to nurturing ethical and skilled professionals in the field of journalism and mass communication.

He urged the new students to see their time at NIJ as an opportunity for personal and professional transformation, emphasizing that education is not just about acquiring certificates but about shaping character and making a positive impact in society.

“Our goal is to train and groom disciplined and excellent professionals who will uphold the highest ethical standards in their profession,” Adefaye stated. “We will equip you to go into the world as professionals and content creators in this new era of communication technology.”

Opportunities Beyond the Classroom

The provost also assured students of a well-rounded academic experience, highlighting opportunities such as field visits to media houses, advertising agencies, and public relations firms. He emphasized the importance of industrial training for National Diploma students, as well as participation in extracurricular activities such as sports competitions, inter-college events, and professional workshops.

Encouraging the matriculants to embrace their journey with dedication, Adefaye reminded them that their time at NIJ is not just about formal education but also about preparing them to become future leaders capable of tackling the challenges of their generation.
