The Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism (WSCIJ) has invited applications from female journalists for the 2025 Report Women Female Reporters Leadership Programme (FRLP) Fellowship, Champion Building edition.

Applications https://bit.ly/FRLP2025, according to an announcement by the Executive Director of WSCIJ, Mrs Motunrayo Alaka, close on Tuesday, 18 February 2025.

Two alumni of the Nigeria Institute of Journalism (NIJ), Mrs Sharon Ijasan, Senior Education and Labour Correspondent of Television Continental and Publisher of BONews, Blessing Oladunjoye, are fellows of FRLP.

Mrs Alaka explained that the fellowship is open to mid-career female investigative journalists with a passion for leadership and at least four years of work experience (post-NYSC) who are currently in leadership roles or demonstrate strong leadership potential.

“Successful applicants will participate in intensive residential training on leadership, investigative reporting and mainstreaming of issues of access and abuse that affect girls and women in the news.

“They will also receive six months of mentorship to produce investigative stories and leadership projects that address equity gaps in the news and newsrooms. This initiative, supported by the Gates Foundation, is part of the Report Women! News and Newsroom Engagement programme.”

Since its inception in 2014, the Report Women! The programme, according to Alaka, has worked to increase the quantum and quality of reports on issues affecting girls and women in Nigeria.

The Female Reporters Leadership Programme (FRLP), which includes a fellowship, was introduced in 2017. It has produced 86 fellows across five cohorts, driven intentional efforts to place women in leadership roles within newsrooms and put the issues of girls and women on the front burner in the news.
