The management of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ) in Ogba, Lagos state, Nigeria, are considering recalling students to complete their final exams for the second semester before August 16, 2024.
This was confirmed via a short statement issued by Dr. Boye Ola, the Deputy Provost, on Friday.
Dr. Boye, via his message, reached out to class leaders to determine a suitable time for the exams, taking into account the convenience of the students.
However, some classes, including Holders National Diploma 2 (HND 2 ) and Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) students, have agreed to write their final papers on Monday.
The initial exam schedule was set to conclude on August 3, 2024, but was postponed to August 16 due to the planned nationwide protest, which began on August 1 and will continue until August 10.
The decision to reschedule the exams was made to ensure the safety of students, particularly those traveling from afar, in case the protests turn violent.
The nationwide protest, tagged #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria, aims to bring Nigerians together to demonstrate against the country’s harsh economic conditions and poor leadership.
