The ongoing second semester examination of the Nigeria Institute of Journalism, which its final papers was scheduled to hold on Thursday the 1st of August is now in doubt. This is due to the planned protest which is to be held across the country, and set to begin from the 1st of August.
According to a senior lecturer and the HOD of literary studies, Mrs. Maureen Popoola, the school will try to engage students of the institution over the possibilities of bringing forward the exams scheduled to hold on Thursday the 1st of August to Wednesday the 31st of July. This will however mean that the students will have to seat for two papers on Wednesday.
When asked for the other options in the eventuality that the student don’t agree to hold two papers on Wednesday, Madam Popoola said “the second option is to continue (with the original date) if they belief that nothing will happen”.
The exam shift is set to affect student of every level of the school, ( ND 1, ND 2, HND 1, HND 2, PGD ) as they were all scheduled to hold their final exams on the 1st of August.
Speaking on the development, Victoria In ND 2 said she don’t have anything to say about the news as she’s ready to write the exam on any date set by the school.
Bayo in HND 2 stress that he won’t be able to come to school on the 1st of August as he won’t be risking his life over examinations.
Precious Nwonu of PGD class, on her part, said she is okay for the exam to be postponed to a further date rather than having to write two papers on Wednesday the 31st of July.
The management of the Institution would make a final decision on Monday after meeting with the students to get their take, but whatever the case may be the school is bent on making a decision with the safety and security of the students in mind.
