Finalists take child rights campaign to exam hall

Higher National Diploma (HND) 2 students of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ) on Tuesday, March 19 took child rights campaign to the examination hall.

The campaign was in line with the course titled ‘Child Rights Reporting’ which the students have been taught in the 2023/2024 first semester academic session.

The course taught by Mr. Akin Ojo witnessed the finalists conveying their messages wearing shirts and caps with different inscriptions.

They highlighted the significance of child rights, raised awareness and advocated for the rights of every children.

Their display, creativity and powerful statement not only showcased their commitment to the cause, but also sparked conversations about child rights among their peers.

Sharing her thoughts on the campaign, broadcast student, Ogunbanjo Adedolapo said; “It was fun and exciting partaking in it because I did not only advocate for child rights, I am also indirectly contributing to the growth of the environment.”

The Vice President of the Students’ Representative Council (SRC), Popoola Zuliat also commented on the cause saying; “We hope that the Ogba community is inspired by this act and are also influenced to participate in the advocacy for child rights.”

The practicing journalists had earlier in January sensitive the Ogba community on drug abuse and child rights.
