According to him, the decision was made in order to adhere to the school calendar which had experienced delays due to unforeseen circumstances.

Hence, it was important to make things tally to maintain the already structured academic calendar.

Despite the fact that it is an occasion to welcome the ‘freshers’ into the institution as bonafide students, they have also voiced their displeasure.

Expressing her dissatisfaction, class governor of Higher National Diploma (HND) 1, Opatola Ifeoluwa said: “We are unlucky because we don’t have enough time to enjoy the matriculation due to the imminent examination.”

National Diploma (ND) 1 student, Chinedu Ogene also expressed mixed feelings as he is set to experience the significant ceremony.

“We understand the reasons, and we’re all about adapting to challenges. Still, it would have been nice to have a breather between the matriculation and the exams,” Ogene stated.

The sentiment among the students is one of disappointment, as the celebration is being overshadowed by the pressure to prepare for the following day’s ‘assessments’.

As the matriculation approaches, the management of the monotechnic encourages its students to focus on their studies in order to achieve academic excellence.
