Broadcast journalist at News Central Television, Blessing Obi-Asualo has expressed delight over the impact of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ) and its lecturers on her career.
Obi-Asualo made this known upon visiting the monotechnic on Thursday, adding that it was an opportunity to also encourage the practicing journalists.
“I was here 2011-2012 when I took that strategic decision to be a broadcaster. I visited my wonderful teachers yesterday and it was fun talking about our days in NIJ. Mrs Popoola proudly showed me off to her students and it was time to advice, encourage and share critical subjects in the industry,” she posted on Facebook.
The broadcaster added: “As a teacher who is extremely passionate I learnt about “perception” a subject that wasn’t in the curriculum in our time. I also saw key improvement in equipments and lecturers to ensure students don’t get only theoretical knowledge but practical which is important in the industry.
“It was also a time to seek old students who are doing well in their chosen careers to come together and invest in critical infrastructure/project that will position the institution to compete with same institutions around the world.”
She extended gratitude to Mrs Popoola Maureen, Dr. Jide Johnson and Mrs. Odum Oruoma, who happens to be her project supervisor in her final year in the school.
She further thanked Mrs Poopola for her love, sacrifice, humility, selflessness, prayers and guidance.
