TiGA Gadgets CEO enjoins students to embrace technology

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of TiGA Gadgets NG, Fanu Daniel Damilola, has charged the students of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ) to embrace technology in order to elevate their journalism path.

Damilola, a final year student of NIJ also said it is a step that will improve their knowledge across broad which is good for every journalist considering the role they play in the society and the world at large.

He gave the charge in an interview with our correspondent on Wednesday while highlighting the significant role technology plays in shaping the future of journalism.

The technology enthusiast emphasized the need for the practicing journalists to proactively navigate through technological advancements to stay ahead in their careers.

“Technology is no longer a luxury but a necessity in the journalism field. To remain competitive and relevant, we must embrace the changing landscape and equip ourselves with the skills required to excel in this digital era,” the entrepreneur stated.

Damilola also admonished his fellow students to explore various technological tools such as mobile reporting apps, data visualization software, and social media analytics platforms when working on their reports.

He maintained that there is need to adapt to emerging trends such as virtual reality, artificial intelligence, and blockchain technology, which are revolutionizing journalism practices worldwide.

His words: “Technological advancements have opened up new avenues for storytelling, engagement, and uncovering hidden narratives. By harnessing these tools, budding journalists can enhance their storytelling skills and connect with audiences in innovative ways.”

The CEO also highlighted the importance of continuous learning and staying updated with the latest digital tools and platforms.

He urged his colleagues to take advantage of online courses, workshops, and industry conferences to broaden their skill sets and deepen their understanding of technology’s impact on journalism.

He further encouraged them to embrace technology and its limitless possibilities, reiterating that students can enhance their knowledge and expertise thereby positioning themselves for success in the ever-evolving field of journalism.

Known for his spirit of enterprise in the technology space over the years, he has been able to combine his business with education due to his passion for journalism.

Damilola is founder of TiGA Gadgets NG, a company he established in 2018 – and specializes in providing innovative tech solutions for journalists and media professionals.
