Call for #OURPUNCHYEARS Book Quiz competition

The competition is meant to enable the participants and other campus journalists learn from the experiences shared by the contributors in the book.

Call for #OURPUNCHYEARS Book Quiz competition

Associations/Unions of Campus Journalists and Departments of  Mass Communication have been invited to participate in the #OURPUNCHYEARS Book Quiz competition to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Punch Newspaper.

The call for participation by the organisers stated that each association/union and departments should nominate a representative by Friday, March 1, 2024.

Nominations ( Name, Association/Union/Department, and WhatsApp phone number) should be sent to 08050498530.

Each nominee would be sent chapters of the book to read to compete in stages of the competition which will also cover knowledge of the newspaper’s history.

Apart from complimentary prizes for all participants, the overall winner will get N50k, first runner-up N30k, and second runner-up N20k.

Our Punch Years book launched in December 2023 contains reminiscences and insider accounts by 38 former editors and staff of the newspaper is edited by Executive Director, Media Career Development Network, Lekan Otufodunrin.

Otufodunrin explained that the competition is meant to enable the participants and other campus journalists learn from the experiences shared by the contributors in the book.

“There are lots of insights by the contributors based on the various years they spent while working in the newspaper which young journalists should take time read and also know about the history of the newspaper which is undoubtedly the leading daily national publication in the country,” Otufodunrin said.
