The Students’ Representative Council President of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ), Awelewa Oluwatosin has advised his colleagues to shun exam malpractice ahead of the forthcoming examination.
Oluwatosin gave the charge to the practicing journalists, particularly freshers on Monday, stating that cheating leads to suspension or expulsion, depending on the situation.
“Of course, there are consequences for engaging in exam malpractice, you would probably be suspended or expelled, so it is important to stay away from it,” the students’ union leader said.
He tasked the students to read their books, ask questions in class and study past questions.
According to him, studying with past questions for examination is one of the most important things to do in the monotechnic.
“Go through past questions, check how questions are being set in previous years then use it to read. It’s easy to pass in NIJ and it’s easy to fail.”
While wishing the students success as they prepare for their exams, he described NIJ as a fantastic place and one of the best schools in Nigeria to write exams.
The first semester examination for the 2023/2024 academic session will commence on Thursday, March 7.
