The Governing Board of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ) has appointed Dr. Adeboye Ola as the new Deputy Provost of the institution.
Ola will take over from Dr Dele Omojuyigbe on March 1, 2024.
The appointment was announced in a notice issued by the Registrar, Mrs. Patricia Kalesanwo on Tuesday.
“This is to inform you that the Governing Council at its meeting of 19th of February, 2024 approved the appointment of Dr Adeboye Ola as the Deputy Provost of our Institution, NIJ with effect from the 1st of March, 2024. We wish him a successful tenure” the notice stated.
Prior to his recent appointment, Dr Ola was the Head of Department (HOD) of General Studies.
Dr Ola, a photographer and master trainer holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Dramatic Arts, Master of Science degree in Mass Communication and Doctorate of Philosophy in Mass Communication.
He also holds a British Education Examinations Council’s (BEEC) Professional Diploma in Public Relations and a Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism from the Nigerian Institute of Journalism.
He started his journalism career at the Vanguard Media Ltd in 1988 as a reporter/photographer and later worked at the defunct Sunday Concord as a writer/ photojournalist between 1989 and 1994.
He worked as the Corporate Affairs Manager with Rathma Holdings, from 1994-1998 and then went into professional photography until he joined NIJ in 2004.
