A trader who also sells online, Mrs. Tolulope Adelaja said that she sometimes last year bought data of two thousand naira (N2000) that should last for about a month to advertise her business online, however, she revealed that same data now cost four thousand, five hundred naira (N4,500).

Similarly, a Point of Sale (POS) operator, Miss. Onome Osofia noted that: “The 1gig data for seven days on MTN network which was sold for N500 is now N600.”

Onome also stressed that she now spends more on data to run her business as a result of the increment.

Commenting on the situation, a 300 level Mass Communication student from a private university, Akeem Ishola said: “You can’t even use 3gig of data to attend a two hours online lecture.”

In the same vein, a businessman named, Mr. Charles Nwanfor disclosed that “prices of everything in the country is on the high side.”

He emphasized that since the major economy of the nation has been affected, it obviously would have an impact on all sector of the economy.

Unanimously, the citizens are calling on the government and lawmakers to take necessary steps in order to reduce the high cost of telecommunication services across the country.
