Ogba: Residents lament state of bad roads
Share on FacebookShare on WhatsAppShare on Twitter

Ogba, a bustling neighbourhood in Lagos State, is known for its vibrant atmosphere, diverse community, and economic activities.

However, beneath this lively facade lies a pressing issue that affects the daily lives of its residents – the deteriorating state of the roads. The roads in Ogba are riddled with potholes, creating an obstacle course for both drivers and pedestrians alike.

Commuters face a challenging journey as they navigate through these craters, leading to prolonged travel times and increased wear and tear on vehicles.

A resident expressed her frustration with the current state of the roads, citing damage to her vehicles, an increase in transportation costs, and the daily struggle to reach her destinations on time.

Pedestrians, too, face difficulties, with uneven sidewalks and hazardous crossings posing safety concerns. Local businesses are not immune to the repercussions of poor road conditions.

Delivery services grapple with delays, and transportation costs are transferred to consumers, affecting the overall cost of living for residents. Interviews with residents reveal a shared sense of dissatisfaction with the current state of affairs.

Many expressed concerns about the apparent neglect of the infrastructure and call for urgent intervention from relevant authorities.

Mr Nichola, a businessman in Ogba, explained that “bad roads are causing a lot of traffic, as they affect motorcyclists, buses, cars, etc. if you carry load, you will be shaking due to bad roads. But if the roads are repaired it will be normal. Look at Pen Cinema for instance,I believe the government should step in and fix the road.”

The state of the roads in Ogba is more than just a local issue; it’s a community wide challenge that demands attention.
