Alumnus of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ), Noah Aderoju has recapped the impact of Multimedia and Online Journalism class in his career.

Aderoju, who graduated from the monotechnic in 2022 revealed his experience to the current final year students in broadcast class on Wednesday as a guest of the lecturer taking the course, Mr. Lekan Otunfodunrin.

“I was an active participant when it comes to questions asked, tasks given, assignments. I took it upon myself to be relevant,” he disclosed.

According to him, the teachings of Mr. Otunfodunrin laid the foundation he has been building on, stressing that the impact is immeasurable.

Commenting on what he learnt in multimedia class, he said: “I learnt the elements of multimedia, how to put multimedia reports together, how to publish, introduction to Search Engine Optimization (SEO).”

He urged the students to put themselves in the position of the reader whenever they are writing, explaining that there are three categories of readers (those that read only headline, those that read halfway and those that read to the end).

Consequently, the communicator advised the practicing journalists to serve the three (3) categories of readers when they are reporting.

He also stated that he has grown in leaps and bounds with ‘Introduction to Solution Journalism’, where situations are looked from different perspectives; the problem, solution, viability of the solution, how possible to recreate the solution in other places and challenges.

He acknowledged that the process is rigorous, however, he maintained that it has shaped him.

When asked how one can improve in writing, he said: “Read good writers, attend trainings and don’t stop writing.”

He charged the students to put in their all whenever tasks are given – and reiterated his gratitude to Mr. Otunfodunrin.
